Lodging, Cooking, Entertainment ... A web site celebrating the
good life! |
| The
Reno-Tahoe Territory contains some of Nevadas most
scenic and historic recreation areas -- from the spectacular
Lake Tahoe (the second deepest lake in the world) to
historic Virginia City (one of the greatest mining booms in
the west). Lake Tahoe is a vacation mecca all year long
offering winter skiing and night-lifing, to summertime
boating, swimming, hiking,
golf
and fishing. Lodging around Tahoe can be a resort
hotel
or private home
vacation
rental. At the north end of the territory is the Black
Rock Desert, a vast playa of limitless vistas and stark
beauty. Black Rock was the site of the first breaking of the
sound barrier by a vehicle on land. Pyramid Lake, a remnant
of a prehistoric inland sea that once covered much of Nevada
is just south of Black Rock Desert. The lake is ringed by
intriguing tufa rock formations and offers
fishing
and boating. Reno was Nevadas original gambling and
divorce capital where many famous stars stayed to get
unhitched. Visitors can enjoy gambling casinos, a visit to
Renos National Automobile Museum and the Nevada Museum
of Art, or stroll the shaded grounds of the University of
Nevada, Reno, the states oldest college. |
