Your hosts, Muffy and David Vhay (shown here with "Inn dogs"
Folly, Bo, and Darwin), are both long-time Nevada residents who
are knowledgable about local lore and activities. David is an
architect/builder who designed and built Deer Run Ranch as a home
and then remodeled it for use as a Bed and Breakfast. His other
interests include agriculture, gardening, and mechanics, but he is
first and foremost a builder/designer/planner. Muffy has taught
high school art and English and now maintains her pottery studio
at the ranch. The studio is open for guests of the Bed and
Breakfast to visit. Other interests of hers include gardening,
cooking, canning/preserving, and photography. Both Muffy and David
enjoy sharing their idyllic lifestyle with their guests and
helping them plan a perfect few days at Deer Run.

View of the Sierra Mountains from the "pond deck"
at Deer Run Ranch is spectacular. The Sierras are the site of
lots of outdoor activities - downhill and cross-country
skiing, sledding, and other snow sports in winter. Hiking,
mountain biking, birding and wildflower walks, horseback
riding, can be enjoyed in warmer months. The ranch pond in the
foreground is a favorite spot for birdwatching or just
relaxing. |

The sitting room is shared by both B&B bedrooms. Lots of
books -- extensive travel library, easy-reading novels, old
art books, western Americana -- something for everyone!
Breakfast is served here in the cooler months, and there is a
small refrigerator, satellite TV, VCR with extensive movie
selection, and telephone for guest use. The wood stove keeps
everyone toasty on cold evenings, and there's nothing like
that first cup of coffee in front of the fire on a cool
morning. When the weather is warm, air conditioning is a
welcome addition. |
