Specialty Recipe
Seven Grain Biscuits |
|
|
|
These biscuits taste great and are very popular at Little
Tree. They don't have as much fat as traditional biscuits.
- Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup seven grain dried cereal
- 1 egg
- 4 Tablespoons safflower or canola oil
- 1/2 to 1 cup buttermilk
- 1-3/4 cup flour
- 1/4 teaspoon soda
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Put 7-grain in measuring cup or small bowl; add warm water to
cover grain. Let it sit to absorb water while measuring other
ingredients. Mix egg, oil, and buttermilk together. In mixing
bowl, mix all dry ingredients. When 7-grain has absorbed water,
add it and egg, oil, and buttermilk to dry ingredients. Mix and
turn onto floured board and knead lightly. Roll out 1 inch thick
and cut with floured biscuit cutter and cook in 400-degree oven
for 15 minutes.
