For a romantic, private getaway in Santa Fe, consider
Dunshee's, a bed and breakfast in a restored adobe home.
Located in a quiet, historic neighborhood, Dunshee's is a mile
from the Plaza and three blocks from the galleries and shops
of Canyon Road. The guesthouse is also a part of this adobe
compound where visitors can experience the real Santa Fe in
their own two bedroom casita.
Dunshee's provides you with spacious accommodations for your
exclusive use with private entrance, a large living room with
a cozy sitting area, an inviting bedroom with a queen size
bed, and a Mexican-tiled bath. Both the living room and
bedroom have kiva fireplaces, viga ceilings, tile floors and
are furnished with antiques, quilts and folk art. An eclectic
library of books, a TV, microwave, refrigerator and telephone
add to the home environment.
The guesthouse is the perfect private retreat where you will
appreciate the solitude and comfort of your own cozy casita.
Relax in front of a crackling fire in winter or unwind on the
patio in the summer while you enjoy some of Santa Fe's famous
sunsets.
Your pueblo-style casita has two bedrooms, one with queen
bed, one with double bed, a Mexican-tiled bath, living room,
complete kitchen and private patio. It's a comforting mix of a
traditional New Mexico home--kiva fireplace, vigas, antiques,
pretty linens and folk art--and modern amenities: stereo
CD/tape player, cable TV, phone, dishwasher, iron, and an
eclectic collection of books. You will be welcomed by a full
cookie jar and a refrigerator stocked daily for your
breakfasts: gourmet coffee, fresh juice, homemade granola,
seasonal fruit and home-made muffins. You can even help
yourself to herbs or tomatoes from the garden! |
Outside there is both a sheltered flowered-filled patio and
an east facing portal overlooking a big backyard. Breakfast is
served in one of these beautifully peaceful areas in the
summer or by the fire on crisp mornings. Fresh-squeezed juice,
fresh-ground coffee, homebaked goods such as apple muffins,
and seasonal fruit are standards here. A different daily
offering such as omelettes with herbs fresh from the garden,
sour cream pancakes, or a green chile souffle complete this
breakfast fare.
Dunshee's is located just one mile from the bustle of the
Plaza and a few blocks from the shops and restaurants of
Canyon Road. There is plenty to do in Santa Fe and surrounding
areas from skiing, hiking, exploring ancient native American
sites, or combing the flea market, galleries, museums, and
shops downtown. Artist/proprietor Susan Dunshee is happy to
give directions and information to make sure you have a
wonderful time in the Land of Enchantment. |
