Haddonfield Inn Bed and Breakfast provides lodging in the
picturesque village of Haddonfield across the Delaware River
from Philadelphia. A quaint little community noted for its
history and fine architecture, Haddonfield has over 200 fine
shops and restaurants.
This recently remodeled Victorian showcase combines all the
comforts of a gracious home with the amenities of a
full-service hotel, including an elevator, free parking, and
concierge service. Haddonfield Inn accommodates guests with
eight rooms and one suite, all individually decorated with an
international flair. Room themes range from The Dub
Lynn Room, offering "lace curtain Irish for a
King or Queen," to the clean and contemporary
Tokyo Room to the sunny Rivera style of The
Monaco Suite. Each accommodation has a private bath,
fireplace, telephone, High Speed Internet Access, and cable
television, and most pamper guests with whirlpool tubs.
A gourmet breakfast is served in the inn's fire-lit dining
room, and complimentary snacks and beverages can be enjoyed in
a variety of common areas, including the inn's old-fashioned
wrap-around porch. Complimentary soda, beer, wine, and teas
are available in a stocked area.
Your hosts, Fred and Nancy Chorpita, make a special effort
to meet whatever dietary needs you might have. In conjunction
with the inn's concierge service, the Chorpitas are also more
than happy to make dinner reservations for you or arrange
theater or symphony tickets. Flowers, champagne, and gift
baskets may be requested. If you're looking for someone to
cater your next group function, the Haddonfield Inn offers the
options of a buffet for up to 50 people or a sit-down dinner
for up to 25. |
Settled in 1682, Haddonfield has a rich pre-colonial history
as well as being the crossroads of the British, Hessian, and
Colonial armies during the American Revolution. The Indian
King Tavern, today a living museum, is the site where New
Jersey became known as a state and where the owner's niece,
Dolley Madison danced. Scientists in 1850 realized that
history at Haddonfield dates back even further with the
discovery of Hadrousaurus foulkii, the world's first nearly
complete dinosaur fossil.
Downtown Haddonfield, with its many fine shops and
restaurants, will also demand your attention, or a local train
will whisk you to Rutgers, the New Jersey Aquarium, the
Delaware Waterfront, and downtown Philadelphia. You can also
go seaside and catch the ferry in Camden. For the more active,
there are venues for tennis, golf, swimming, boating, and
skiing nearby. Birdwatchers and fishermen alike will enjoy
Hopkins Pond. |
