Welcome to the Sunset Hill House, where spectacular mountain
views from every room combine with luxury lodging and
distinguished dining to create an ideal getaway in New
Hampshire's White Mountains.
This large Second Empire Victorian Hotel, which first
welcomed guests in 1880, is located on Sunset Hill Ridge and
offers unparalleled views of the Presidential, Kinsman, and
Franconia Ranges of the White Mountains as well as long-range
views over the Green Mountains of Vermont.
Casual elegance are the watchwords at Sunset Hill House Inn.
Enjoy the fireplace in the parlor. Help yourself to hot and
cold drinks, or take one to go. Of course, your hosts put out
treats every afternoon. At night, peep into the heavens
through one of the Inn's telescopes.
Each of the 28 spotless guest accommodation and suites offer
unobstructed mountain views. Some guest rooms have gas
fireplaces, tv's, deep clawfooted tubs, Jacuzzi tubs,
body-spray or steam showers, a private deck, or all of these!
- Master Suites
are the epitome of luxury, with separate living
rooms, two-person whirlpools, and fireplaces; some have a
private deck and wet bar. Of course, the bed is king-sized,
and you have views of both the White and Green mountains.
- Grand Rooms
either queen- or king-sized bed, invite you to relax in
front of your private gas fireplace, in your
whirlpool-for-two, or on your deck.
- Traditional
Rooms range from large and lovely to cozy rooms
tucked under the mansard roof. Some are furnished with
antiques from the original Sunset Hill House, and others
adjoin or have twin beds -- perfect for families.
Restaurant:
A full breakfast is included in your rate. Expect tasty
entrees such as egg dishes, stuffed French toast, and
pan-fried trout in addition to fresh fruits and home-baked
pastries. The Inn's main dining room restaurant, featuring
fine dining with a contemporary French menu that changes every
few weeks, overlooks the White Mountains, where you can look
east to the alpine glow at sunset. The tavern offers lighter
fare either inside looking west to the sunset or out on the
mountainside deck.
Attractions:
Take the Cog Railroad up Mount Washington, spend the
day skiing at Bretton Woods, or visit the many attractions in
Franconia Notch. In the fall, enjoy breathtaking views amid
Mother Nature's fabulous fall foliage display.
Hosts Lon and Nancy Henderson describe themselves as small
enough to know their guests, yet large enough not to be
intrusive. They both look forward to welcoming you personally.
