Cranberry Bog French Toast

Ingredients

1 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup butter, melted

3 teaspoons cinnamon (divided)

Tart New Hampshire apples (peeled, cored, and thinly sliced)

1/2 cup dried cranberries

1 loaf French bread (1-inch slices)

6 large eggs

1-1/2 cups milk

1 Tablespoon vanilla extract

Combine brown sugar, butter, and 1 teaspoon cinnamon into a 13 x 9-inch baking pan. Add apples and cranberries; toss to coat well. Arrange bread slices on top. Mix eggs, milk, vanilla, and 2 teaspoons cinnamon until well-blended. Pour mixture over bread, soaking bread completely. Cover and refrigerate overnight.

Bake, covered with aluminum foil, for 40 minutes in a preheated 375-degree oven. Uncover and bake 5 more minutes. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
