Walnut Waffles

Ingredients:

2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

1 Tablespoon granulated sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup chopped walnuts

6 Tablespoons melted butter

1-1/2 cups milk

3 eggs

whipped cream, butter and maple syrup (or fresh fruit)

In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Add walnuts to the flour mixture and stir. Separate the eggs. Beat the egg yolks with melted butter and milk. Add to flour mixture and stir until combined. In a separate bowl, beat the egg white until they form stiff peaks. Fold them gently into the batter. Bake in a waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions until golden brown. Top with slices of strawberries and bananas before serving. Serve with maple syrup.
