Buttonwood Sausage Puff

I serve this with scrambled eggs.

Ingredients:

1 pound sausage

1 package crescent rolls

8 ounces softened cream cheese

1/2 Tablespoon red pepper flakes

1 Tablespoon dry mustard

1/2 cup mushrooms (optional)

1/2 cup onions (optional)

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 egg, beaten

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cook and drain sausage. On an ungreased cookie sheet, lay out crescent rolls. Press the dough into the cookie sheet, sealing seams. Mix sausage with cream cheese, red pepper flakes, and mustard. Add mushrooms and/or onions if desired. Spread the sausage/cream cheese mixture on the first layer of crescent rolls. Sprinkle cheddar cheese over mixture. Cover with another sheet of crescent roll dough, sealing seams. Brush with an egg wash (beaten egg).

Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
