Apple Crisp

This was my great-grandma Emma's recipe -- a favorite in the family for generations. It is a New England tradition, especially during the Fall apple season.

Ingredients

4 cups apples, sliced

1/2 Tablespoon salt

1 cup flour

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1 cup sugar

1/2 cup butter

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter a shallow pan and put in the sliced apples. Sprinkle apples with salt. Mix flour, cinnamon, and sugar and rub in cold butter until crumbly. Spread mixture evenly over apples.

Bake uncovered 45 to 60 minutes or until crust is golden brown.
