Situated on the Connecticut River on 23
acres in rural Lyme, New Hampshire, Breakfast on the
Connecticut is just a dozen miles north of Hanover and
Dartmouth College, providing a peaceful getaway for Dartmouth
parents and alumni, vacationers, business retreats, and group
events.
Built in 1996, Breakfast on the
Connecticut has 15 guestrooms, each with private bath and some
with in-room whirlpool tubs or gas fireplaces. Each
accommodation has its own color television, VCR, telephone,
and individual climate control. Two large suites each offer
ample room for a family of four.
Guestrooms are almost evenly split between
the main house and the architecturally intriguing 12-sided
round barn, which is as well appointed as the main house, but
just a touch quieter. An enclosed passageway that also
provides access to the gazebo-protected spa connects the "Barn"
and the main house.
The inn has several common areas, including
the living-dining-sunroom area that surrounds the large
working kitchen, which is the center of generous country-style
breakfasts each morning. This unique layout gives the Inn the
flexibility to host small functions, such as family reunions
and business firm retreats.
If you're looking for a more private
setting for a getaway, a Guest House is available. Located in
a beautiful field by the river, the two-bedroom Guest
House will offer you the amenities of home, including a
fully equipped kitchen, satellite television, VCR, screened
porch, deck with seasonal heated enclosed shower, laundry
facilities, and central air conditioning, in a tranquil New
England country setting. |
In the summer, the inn's landing and dock
on the lazy river provide a refreshing retreat. You may want
to explore the river in one of their kayaks or canoes. Or
explore the back roads of Vermont and New Hampshire that seem
designed for that nice long run or bicycle ride.
Whatever the season -- winter, spring,
summer, or autumn -- the Upper Valley offers a bounty of
choices. While the property offers ample opportunity for
canoeing, kayaking, fishing, and biking, you are also close to
golf, horseback riding, downhill and cross-country skiing,
snowmobiling, and major recreational areas in both New
Hampshire and Vermont.
Minutes from the Appalachian Trail and an
easy drive to the White Mountains, Breakfast on the
Connecticut is ideally located for those who like to spend a
day hiking, mountain climbing, bird watching, or sightseeing.
And of course, the country roads are dotted with fabled New
England craft and antique galleries to explore. |
