The Trestle House Inn at Willow Tree Farm, built in 1972 as
a retreat, is located in historic Edenton, the first colonial
capital of North Carolina. Nestled on five acres the inn is
surrounded on three sides by water with a lake refuge above
and behind the viewing deck that lets you in on the incredible
habitat of local wildlife.
The spacious interior of the bed and breakfast is
highlighted by massive beams of California Redwood which were
originally Southern Railway Company trestles. The timbers were
cut from trees estimated to be over four hundred years old.
The Trestle House offers guests the opportunity to enjoy
amenities that include a library, a television/game room, and
a fireplace. Guests can also enjoy walks on the seven acres
surrounding the Inn or just sit back and take in the view from
the deck. The country inn overlooks a wildlife refuge on a
private lake with acres of Lob Lolly Pine (Yellow Pine) trees.
Behind the Inn is a large pond fed by the Albemarle Sound. It
is filled with Largemouth Bass and beautiful Yellow Bream and
is home to thousands of Canada Geese and other waterfowl.
Trestle House is truly a wildlife enthusiast's dream.
Each lodging accommodation is individually decorated and
offers a private bath, ceiling fan, central air, and electric
blanket. The first floor houses two rooms, The Osprey
and the Cormorant. The Osprey features two double
antique oak beds, ideal for couples with one or two children.
You can take in the view of the lake from the Cormorant with a
queen-sized bed. The bath is quite spacious and features
unique Italian tilework. The second-floor Mallard room
is furnished with two beds and overlooks the lake and canal. A
queen-sized sleigh bed graces the Heron, known for
its romantic and quiet atmosphere. The Egret, considered
the anniversary/honeymoon room, offers a king-sized sleigh bed
overlooking the canal from the second floor. Champagne or wine
is always served to guests who spend a special occasion in
this room.
A freshly prepared breakfast is served daily at 8:30 a.m. on
the deck that overlooks the pond or in the "Cook Room"
overlooking the canal. A special Trestle House Inn coffee
blend is brewed and served with fruit and juice. The entrees
vary daily, but are always generously portioned, homemade, and
delicious. Muffins and bread are baked and offered daily as a
wake-up call for all those wanting a morning delight.
The Trestle House also hosts special events such as
receptions, conferences, and retreats. Call for a small
business meeting, wedding reception, or just a relaxing visit.
