The Fairview Inn & Restaurant, the premier Jackson
Mississippi Bed and Breakfast is an awe-inspiring three-story
colonial revival mansion.
Nestled on a two-acre estate that lies on a quiet
residential street in the heart of the capital city, The
Fairview Inn envelops guests with southern hospitality from
its formal gardens, flowering magnolia and crepe myrtle trees,
and lush grounds, to the inns renown restaurant and elegant
guest accommodations. The property is on the National Register
of Historic Places.
Guests of the Fairview are pampered with combination of old
world decor and modern-day comforts. Eleven of the 18 rooms
are suites with king or queen-size beds. Lovely
sitting/conference rooms adjoin the sleeping quarters in most
of the rooms, with beautiful hardwood floors and meticulously
chosen furniture. Antique furnishings have been collected from
both the surrounding vicinity and Europe. Ten new luxury rooms
and suites were added in 2001, all with Jacuzzis and eight
with fireplaces.
Family and a personal touch are the keys to the wonderfully
prepared meals at Fairview. The complimentary full breakfasts
are prepared with the freshest ingredients. A typical morning
fare would include choice of fresh chilled juice, fresh fruit
compote, an entree including bacon or sausage and eggs, and an
abundance of other taste-tempting morsels. Whether its a
romantic meal for two or a night out with the whole family,
dinner is being served Thursday through Saturday at The
Fairview Inn Restaurant.
Some things never change... If good old southern hospitality
and nostalgic surroundings are what you are looking for, then
there is no better place than the Fairview Inn. |
Fairview was built in 1908 for lumber tycoon Cyrus C. Warren
and is one of the few remaining landmark properties in
Jackson. In 1930 a prominent banker, D.C. Simmons, purchased
the estate and to this day it remains in the family. The
foyer, with its distinctive ceiling and massive crystal
chandelier reflecting onto the Venetian Marble floor, makes
one think that they are entering the grand mansion of an
affluent southern plantation owner.
The Inn specializes in weddings, receptions, and corporate
events. A spacious banquet room connects the main home to the
carriage house at the rear of the property, which also holds
the hideaway Hayloft Suite. The library with an English
hunt-club atmosphere and oak-paneled walls is stocked with
hundreds of books about the Civil War. |
