Exhibiting sincere and caring hospitality, Ludlow's Island
Resort on Lake Vermilion in Cook, Minnesota has been under the
same ownership for over 65 years. The Ludlow family has the
primary interest of providing the blend of privacy, activity,
quality, and comfort that has made Ludlow's a favorite family
destination time and time again! Lake Vermilion, between the
Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and Voyageurs National
Park, offers 1,200 miles of shoreline, 365 islands, and over
40,000 acres of clean, clear waters for all kinds of water
activity.
Cabin resorts: Enjoy a unique resort experience in
one of nineteen waterfront cabins on the property, which is
entirely reserved exclusively for guests, assuring you
complete privacy, seclusion, and security. A private estate,
five miles from the lodge, is also available. Each cabin
ranges from one to five bedrooms / one to four baths, and
sleeps from two to ten. All cabins have fireplaces; decks with
Weber cookers; full kitchens with microwaves,
dishwashers, utensils, and glassware (including wine glasses);
living rooms with comfortable furnishings; linens; and
telephone and cable/satellite TV for off-island cabins. VCRs
are available for rental. Some cabins include a washer/dryer
(coin laundry on island for cabins without), and some have
Jacuzzi tubs.
Meals: Ludlow's offers full menu choices for
evening meals, including entrees, pizza, and burgers delivered
to your cabin ready for you to serve on cabin dishes. The
gourmet pantry is open 24 hours and has a variety of groceries
including dairy products, frozen entrees, tackle, personal
toiletries, and picnic items. Woks, ice cream makers, waffle
irons, and food processors are available to sign out at no
charge. Additional services, available at an extra charge,
include daily or partial weekly maid service, a certified
massage therapist on-site weekly, and child care.
Recreation: A variety of recreational amenities are
included in your room rate. Two tennis courts are on the
property as well as an indoor racquetball court, and an
exercise room with many machines for the fitness-conscious.
Enjoy some down time in the recreation room with video games,
foosball, air hockey, and TV, or watch a movie, play some
board games or read a magazine in the Lodge by the fireplace.
Fishing: Lake Vermilion, renowned as a premier
Minnesota walleye and northern pike lake, is also one of the
best small and large mouth bass lakes in the state. The
on-going stocking of walleye pike and voluntary "selective
harvest" assure continued populations. Recent stockings
of Muskellunge add an exciting dimension. Weekly fishing
clinics and available guides ensure an exciting adventure. The
staff will also clean and package your catch for you! |
Activities for all: Other lake activities include
paddle-boating, kayaking, canoeing, row-boating, and swimming.
A camping island is great for overnight trips, with tent and
gear provided. Picnics are always private and romantic on one
of the outpost islands. Boat and motor rentals are
particularly popular for the foliage tours in the fall.
Personal boats are also welcome, with covered dockage
provided if size is not limited.
Children's programs: Children's weekly activities
may include pontoon tours to view eagles, beaver lodges, and
waterfowl as well as hot dog roasts, nature hikes, fishing
derbies, and other activities to introduce young people to the
woods and waters environment.
Many guests enjoy instruction in Native American artwork.
Daily activities are usually an hour or so in length, and a
movie is shown in the video room each evening.
Mark and Sally Ludlow were honored by the Minnesota
Association of Innkeepers in October 1999 as "Innkeepers
of the Year." They invite you to experience Ludlow's and
create lifetime memories. |
