| Minnesota
is a crossroads for three distinct environments; the western
plains and prairies, the northern coniferous forest and the
eastern hardwood forest. These three lands meet in the
northwest third of the state, where deep pine forests and
wilderness lakes gradually traverse into rich farmland to
the west and rolling woods of aspen, pine, birch and maple
in the vacation lakes area to the south. Vikings, voyagers,
Paul Bunyan, and Charles Lindbergh are said to have
influenced this state. Its thriving cities and hundreds of
resorts and campgrounds beckon today's explorers to discover
this unique region of the country. Land and water are
abundantly influential to this vacationland too. The mighty
Mississippi is born here, buffalo still roam here, Lake
Superior borders here and many lakes and streams give way to
great fishing,
boating, swimming and water skiing. Minnesota's mountain
areas offer snow
skiing,
hiking and biking. Above all, though, the hospitality of its
bed
and breakfast inns and hotels will be as memorable as
the scenery. |
