Built in early 1900, the Inn originally housed the wealthy summer visitors to Mount Desert Island. It is located on a quiet, residential, tree-lined street. You'll be away from the traffic of busy Bar Harbor, yet within walking distance of attractive boutiques, intimate restaurants, and the surrounding sea.

Whether you choose one of the five tasteful, tree theme rooms the Inn has to offer, or the spacious White Birch Suite you are sure to have a comfortable and memorable stay. All the rooms offer private baths and queen sized beds and the suite offers a working, wood burning fireplace (pictured right).

A hearty breakfast is served in the bright and sunny dining room. Your palate will be treated to gourmet delights and you'll have the opportunity to engage in good conversation with other Inn guests. Afternoon refreshments are served on the front porch in the summer and in front of a cozy fire in the winter.

Acadia National Park, just five minutes away, offers a year round wilderness playground. Come and watch the breathtaking sunset from atop Cadillac Mountain or the crashing waves at Schoodic Point.

When guests are planning their first visit to Mt. Desert Island, they often ask how long they should plan to stay in Bar Harbor. If you enjoy outdoor activities, especially hiking and biking, your hosts suggest that you plan on spending at least three days.

Acadia National Park offers over 160 miles of hiking trails and over 50 miles of carriage roads, just waiting for you to hike and bike. In the spring, summer and fall, you can go whale watching, sailing, kayaking, canoeing, and enjoy many other activities.

If you are the type that likes to "do it all", your hosts suggest that you spend at least a week. Day trips can be easily taken to Castine, Blue Hill, Deer Isle, and Schoodic Peninsula. No matter when you visit Mt. Desert Island, you will find yourself so caught up in its natural beauty, you will be planning your next visit before you leave.
