Built in 1898 with all the grandeur of the
Victorian age as a wedding gift for his new bride, this
shingle-styled mansion was originally the residence of Charles
H. Berry, a prominent local merchant. Today, it remains one of
the most stately homes in Rockland, Maine and the area's
newest bed and breakfast inn.
Guests enjoy full use of the inn's spacious
common rooms, which include a formal parlor, fully stocked
library, and drawing room with fireplace, board games, and
television for those in need of an electronic fix. The gardens
and front porch are also relaxing places to while the time
away. A guest pantry is complete with refrigerator, microwave,
and freshly baked treats.
Guests accommodations are equally as
charming. All of the 12 spacious guest rooms have working
fireplaces and luxurious private baths, most with whirlpool or
clawfoot tubs. Standard amenities include air conditioning,
telephones, high-speed Internet access, clock radios, and
warm, cozy robes. A limited number of in-room televisions are
available upon request. All accommodations are uniquely
decorated in the colors and tones of the Victorian era with a
pleasing balance of elegance and comfort, plus an attention to
detail that your hosts carry through to all aspects of your
stay, from morning coffee to evening sweets.
Enjoy a full, multi-course breakfast in the
elegantly appointed dining room any time between the hours of
8:00 and 9:30 a.m. Choose an intimate table for two by the
window, or ask the staff to set up a table for up to six if
you are traveling with a larger party. With advance notice,
the staff can also arrange for an earlier or later meal to
better fit your travel plans or plan a menu to accommodate
special dietary needs or food allergies. |

Bean in Freeport, Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor, and
every town in between. All along mid-coast Maine you'll

as the primary residence of four generations of the Berry
family and then in the hands of another local family for 50
