in the Magical Mountains and Lakes Region is truly a treat,
especially if you're a skier. We're blessed with some of the finest
downhill and cross-country skiing in the nation just minutes away.
Shawnee Peak, located between Bridgton and Fryeburg, offers 99%
snowmaking on its 36 trails covering 225 acres, of which 70% is
available for night skiing. You are guaranteed not only great skiing
and snow no matter what Mother Nature has to offer, but wonderfully
groomed conditions as well. The slopes are even groomed twice a day
- once for morning skiing and again in the afternoon for night
skiing. |

minutes of most locations in the Magical Mountains and Lakes
Region, there are six other downhill ski areas and four tracked
and groomed cross-country centers. Of course, there are miles of
snowmobile/cross-country ski trails from virtually every inn and
B&B's door. |

One of
the fastest growing winter sports is snowshoeing. Our Magical
Mountains and Lakes Region is the ideal place to try out this
fun and easy sport. Essentially, if you can walk, you can
snowshoe! Opportunities for venturing out lie at everyone's
doorstep. Whether you choose to follow a marked or hiking trail
or explore our varied terrain on your own, there is something
for every ability. Snowshoes can be rented at Shawnee Peak or
the Admiral Peary House B&B. Both have marked trails and
offer instruction. |
