Because of the numerous lakes, rivers, and streams in the Magical Mountains and Lakes Region, there are many boating opportunities during the warmer months of mid-April through October. There are public boat landings at most of the lakes and ponds and many places to launch a boat along the rivers and streams. Boats of all sorts, from small row boats to large party pontoon boats, can be rented at various marinas in the area. Our lakes offer some of the most spectacular scenery of the surrounding mountains and are beautifully refreshing to swim and play in on a hot summer's day. Viewing the reflection of the multicolored fall foliage in a quiet stream or mountain lake is almost breathtaking.

Fishing
Fishing in MaineEvery angler knows his or her favorite spot in and around the beautiful lakes and rivers. Fishing season officially opens on April 1 and runs until November 30 Salmon, tongue (lake trout), and bass fishing is found on Kezar Lake, Lovewell Pond, Long Lake, and Harrison Lake, as well as many other surrounding lakes and ponds. Fly fishing is superb on the Saco River or Cold River, where rainbow, brown, and brook trout are abundant. Maps and information can be obtained from local innkeepers, or treat yourself to a guided trip to assure a successful day.
