one of the most popular activities for visitors to the Magical
Mountains and Lakes Region is canoeing. The Saco River, a pristine
beauty, meanders for miles, taking canoeists and kayakers past the
lovely pastoral scenery. There are many wide, sandy beaches along
the way, where you can stop for a swim or a picnic. Several canoe
outfitters in the area offer rentals and put-in and pick-up service.
Canoes can also be rented at local lake marinas for lake canoeing.
Hint: try to plan your Saco River canoe trip during the midweek,
when there are fewer people on the river. |
