Freeport Maine Bed and Breakfast Inn

photo of White Cedar Inn Bed and Breakfast, Freeport, Maine

White Cedar Inn is just a short, two-block stroll along brick-paved sidewalks to L.L. Bean and many famous outlet stores. If shopping is not your cup of tea, this bed and breakfast is just 10-20 minutes by car to beaches, museums, hiking trails, birding spots and many winter activities, such as cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ice skating and sledding. You can also bicycle to nearby town beaches.

Breakfast is served in the sunroom overlooking the gardens and consists of a fruit dish, bread or muffin course and a hot entree such as Lobster Quiche or Maine Blueberry Pancakes. In the afternoon the inn offers cookies, brownies or cake for refreshment. Coffee and tea are always available.

Many of the Inn's seven guest accommodations were named with reference to MacMillan, his relatives and his famed boat, the Bowdoin. Although every room has a private bath, air-conditioning, bed quilt and down comforter, each room has its own personality. Guest rooms offer king, queen, double and twin beds in configurations to suit most traveling companions.

Freeport is a wonderful community with many activities in every season. We hope you will spend time with us this year and come to enjoy our town as much as we do.

As seen in Down East magazine (December 2006) and Everyday with Rachael Ray (December/January 2007).

This 1888 Victorian-style New England house was once the boyhood home of Arctic explorer Donald B. MacMillan. MacMillan was second-in-command to Adm. Robert E. Peary and many of the artifacts of the journeys to the North Pole are on display at the Peary-MacMillan Arctic Museum at Bowdoin College. In later years, MacMillan married and with his wife, Miriam, traveled extensively in the Arctic with both writing numerous books about their expeditions.
