Flying Cloud makes a relaxing home port as you discover this
classic mid-coast area.
Flying Cloud's accommodations will make you
feel welcome and comfortable. The five guest rooms each has a
private bath. Four rooms offer beautiful views of the tidal
Damariscotta River and harbor, while one guest room overlooks
the back gardens with butterflies and birdfeeders. Enjoy the
cozy TV room or relax in the extensive library. You will find
a high speed Internet connection for your laptop on the

front of one of Flying Cloud's warming fireplaces.
Awake, refreshed and ready to begin your
day in Maine. Enjoy a fabulous gourmet breakfast served in
traditional New England style. Begin with fresh perked coffee
on the front porch watching the boats on the river. Breakfast
is served on the screen porch during the summer months and in
the gracious dining room all year. After savoring the fresh
baked muffins and fresh fruit, you will enjoy one of many hot
entrée's. The chef plans something new and piping hot
each morning. From the traditional Maine blueberry pancakes to
the more unexpected fontina cheese and mushroom strata,
breakfast is a treat each day. Special dietary needs can
easily be accommodated with advance notice.
When you are ready to start your day of
exploring and discovery, your hosts will provide you with
suggestions and directions to compliment your interests. From
the more vigorous-kayaking and hiking, sailing and golf-to the
less strenuous-art galleries, antique shops, outlets and
museums, there is something for everyone. The mid-coast
abounds with the beauty that can only be found on the rocky
coast on Maine.
Plan a day trip to areas near by. Boothbay
Harbor, famous for it's scenic boats and harbor is down the
River Road. Pemiquid Point lighthouse, Fort William Henry and
Pemiquid Beach are fifteen miles down the Pemiquid Peninsula.

Kayaking is available across the bridge (a
10 minute walk) or on Muscongus Bay. South to Bath find the
Maritime Museum and Reid State Park or Pompum Beach, wonderful
for walking at any time of the year. From New Harbor take the
ferry to Monhegan Island or cruise out to see the puffins and
seals. Go north and discover the Owl's Head Lighthouse and the
general store in the village. (Some of the best molasses
cookies ever!)
Visit the Owl's Head Transportation Museum
with a wonderful array of antique cars, airplanes, wagon and
motorcycles. A little further north enjoy the Rockland
lighthouse on the mile long breakwater. Visit the Farnsworth
Art Museum, home to three generations of Wyeths. Camden is
another 15 minutes north of Rockland. Drive or hike to the top
of Mount Batty for breathtaking views of the islands and
coastline of Maine. Take a schooner sunset cruise from the
Camden harbor. |
