Baked Pears

Ingredients:

Pears (use firm Bartlett or Bosch)

Butter or margarine

1/4 cup sugar

1/4 cup brown sugar

3 teaspoons cinnamon

1 teaspoon allspice

1 teaspoon nutmeg

Port wine

Dates

Raisins

Chopped nuts

Core pear. Butter skin. Combine sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, allspice, and nutmeg in a bowl. Place in oven-proof serving bowl (or use a Blue Harbor apple baker dish, designed to support the apple or pear and to transmit cooking heat into the center to speed cooking). Sprinkle with spiced sugar mixture. Fill hollow with port wine, dates, raisins, and chopped nuts. Add water. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour. Be creative and enjoy!
