On the shore of Bass Harbor, close to
Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor and on the outskirts
of Bass Harbor Village, the Bass Harbor Cottages and
Country Inn offer a peaceful waterfront setting for
year-round vacation or retreat.
Located on the "quietside" of
Mount Desert Island, the cottages have spectacular views
of the water from a country-garden setting. Overlooking
Bass Harbor, they have decks, queen beds, fireplaces,
saunas, living areas, full kitchens, and television. The
Country Inn is reminiscent of a by-gone era and offers
quaint, comfortable guestrooms with queen beds,
fireplaces, in-room coffee, in-room refrigerators, and
private baths. Stroll across the lawn as you mosey down to
the water's edge -- bring your water shoes and your kayak
and launch with the tide! |

The
Country Inn, built in the late 1800's as a
place of respite, presents views of the harbor from the
gracious porch and overlooks the gardens. The Inn
represents traditional New England architecture and offers
three quaint guestrooms furnished with period antiques and
braided rugs. Guests enjoy sitting at the shore while
watching the sailboats. The staircase leads to the water's
edge for brisk high tide wading. Rooms at the Inn are for
two guests and have fireplaces, private baths, queen beds,
in-room coffee and in-room refrigerators. The Inn and
premises are smoke-free. |
The
Carriage House is a private cottage with
commanding views across Bass Harbor and Blue Hill Bay
(shown above). This cottage offers a second-floor "under
the eaves" master bedroom with a balcony and
skylights, fireplace, personal skylight sauna, queen bed,
television, and a shower bath. The first floor has a
wharf-style deck overlooking the Harbor, a living area
with fireplace and television, two additional guest
bedrooms, a full bath, and a contemporary kitchen. The
Carriage House can comfortably accommodate six guests and
offers kayak launching and storage. |
|
The
Pine Cottage sits atop a grassy hill facing
Blue Hill Bay and the outer islands - it also overlooks
upper Bass Harbor and the setting sun. Quaint and cozy,
this traditional "mix and match" cottage is
surrounded by pine trees and has a skylight living area
with fireplace, two bedrooms, a screened-in porch, full
contemporary kitchen, and new shower bath. Smoke free and
for four guests, the Pine Cottage offers both kayak
storage as well as tidal launching, just steps away. |
The
Boat House Cottage looks out over our tide pool
to Sawyers Island and lobster boats moored on the opposite
shore. The Loft, with its panoramic view of the working
harbor from a private balcony, has a skylight living area,
fireplace and television, a full contemporary kitchen,
full bath, and a skylight bedroom. The second-floor queen
suite features a deck, living area with television, one or
two bedrooms, full contemporary kitchen, and a full
and/or shower bath. The Boat House Cottage accommodates
two to four guests in separate areas. |
