Respected as one of the finest inns on
Maryland's Eastern Shore, Brampton Bed and Breakfast Inn
dates back to the mid 1800's. Built in 1860 as a
plantation house and listed on the National Register of
Historic Places, Brampton still retains nearly all of its
original details.
You'll admire beautiful craftsmanship
such as the magnificent three-and-a-half story walnut and
ash central staircase, walnut windows and doors, Georgia
pine floors, and plaster ceiling medallions. The 35 acres
of grounds that surround Brampton with century-old trees
and boxwood plantings provide a quiet, pastoral setting
for a peaceful escape.
Choose from ten luxurious and romantic
guest rooms, each with private bath. All lodging
accommodations are spacious and well appointed with
beautiful yet comfortable period furnishings. Most have
wood-burning fireplaces ready to be lit during cold winter
days, queen canopy beds, and sitting areas or rooms. The
manor house features a formal guest parlor plus a family
room with television/VCR and games for you to enjoy.
Join your hosts each day in the dining
room for a complimentary full breakfast and afternoon tea
complete with fresh brewed coffee, tea, homemade muffins,
cakes, cookies, breads, and jams. As one satisfied guest
from Virginia exclaimed, "...breakfast alone is worth
the trip. Such a delicious scone."
The Eastern Shore offers visitors a
glimpse into the past. What better way to complement your
visit than to surround yourself with the 19th-century
decor of the Greek Revival Plantation House known as
Brampton? |

The historic town of Chestertown,
established as a town and colonial port of entry in 1706, is
the county seat and is home to Washington College, founded in
1782.
You'll enjoy the abundance of nature and
wildlife throughout the area. The gently rolling landscape,
dotted with historic sites and wildlife refuges, provides
interesting touring by automobile or bicycle. The region's
migrating Canadian geese, ducks, swans and a variety of other
wintering waterfowl are found in the fields and sanctuary
ponds nearby. Summer brings an abundance of osprey, bluebirds,
swallows and Baltimore orioles. You might even spot a bald
eagle.
Spend your days antiquing, shopping,
birding, crabbing, hunting, fishing or horseback riding, to
name just a few activities. Historic Chestertown offers many
fine and casual restaurants. Back at the Inn, wind down on one
of the relaxing front porch swings. |
