Watch the sun rise over the Choptank River
and set over the Chesapeake Bay at the Black Walnut Point Inn
on Tilghman Island. Situated within fifty-seven tranquil acres
of a wildlife preserve on the southernmost tip of the island.
This Inn is like a sanctuary for humans where you can enjoy
the comfortable accommodations and serene surroundings of this
Civil War period mansion.
Four enchanting guest rooms in this mansion
offer private baths, waterfront views and tasteful
furnishings. Screened porches, sitting areas, king- and
queen-size beds, and large windows are just some of the
amenities found in the various rooms. In the morning, pull up
a rocking chair out on the porch and plan your day's
activities. Take a nap on the hammocks. View a fantastic
sunset from the Sun Room that spans the entire western side of
the house. Guests are welcome to read in front of the
fireplace, watch TV or play a game in the living room.
For a little extra privacy and seclusion,
stay in one of the new cozy waterfront cottages. Each cottage
has a large screened porch facing the river, living room with
fireplace, full kitchen, private bath, and bedroom with a
king-size bed. Every room offers incredible water views.
An ideal setting for conferences and
seminars, The Black Walnut Inn can accommodate up to fourteen
people. Meetings may be held in the Sun Room overlooking the
bay or on the large waterfront screened porch. The Inn's
isolation is consistent with productivity and is free of
artificial distractions.
Start the day off right with an expanded
Continental breakfast served in the formal dining room. |
The Inn provides plenty of activity: swim
in the pool, go fishing or boating, or just walk or bike
around the island taking photos of the natural beauty. Explore
the wildlife sanctuary. St. Michaels which is only twenty
minutes away, offers golf, fine restaurants with numerous
selections native to the Chesapeake Bay, quaint shops plus the
nationally famous Maritime Museum. Fifteen more minutes away
is the historic town of Easton, the colonial capital of the
eastern shore. In October and November the island celebrates
itself with the Waterfowl Festival and the Tilghman Island
Day.
For the perfect getaway for the week-end or
a much deserved vacation, experience the romantic, private
setting of the Black Walnut Point Inn with its wildlife,
sunrises, sunsets and silence. Your innkeepers invite you to
share this sanctuary with them. |
