The Hill House Bed and Breakfast, a
three-story Victorian townhouse built around 1870, is located
in the heart of Frederick's historic district of Maryland.
The home's original facade features
Eastlake detailing, and the home's interior emanates an
historical ambience reflected by period furniture, framed
Civil War documents, and original drawings, paintings, and
crafts from the private collection of innkeepers Damian and
Taylor Branson.
This quaint Victorian includes three
rooms, each with a private, ceramic-tiled bathroom, as well as
a deluxe suite that includes a sitting room, bedroom, kitchen,
and ceramic-tiled bathroom.
Each room carries its own motif. The
Victorian Room includes a queen-sized canopied bed and
features a chair that belonged to Damian's mother as a child
and a china doll that belonged to Damian herself. The
Chesapeake Room, also with a queen-sized bed, is
colorfully decorated in a floral chintz with tiger maple
furniture and features original paintings of the Chesapeake
Bay region. The room opens into a furnished, second-floor
gallery that overlooks the garden.
The Mexican Room features
twin beds, beautiful artwork, hand-painted furniture, and a
uniquely appointed bath. It too opens into the second-floor
gallery. The Steeple Suite provides the most
scenic view, though. It overlooks the famous Spire of
Frederick and effects a genteel look with colonial-style
furniture and a queen-sized canopy bed. Also available is a
third-floor apartment with queen bedroom, full kitchen,
sitting room, and bath for long-term rentals.
Damian, an experienced gourmet cook,
serves up a scrumptious breakfast of homemade biscuits,
sausage, country ham, bacon, french toast, grits, and home
fries, along with such seasonal delicacies as fried apples and
green tomatoes. The menu changes routinely, and to that end,
Damian invites guests to make special requests.

After breakfast, take a stroll in nearby
Baker Park. Also within walking distance is a collection of
antique shops and fine restaurants, as well as several venues
for live theater. Other nearby points of interest include Hood
College, the Civil War Medical Museum, the Visitor's Center,
the Historical Society of Frederick, and the Delaplaine Visual
Arts Center. The Grapevine and Edward & Edward Blue
Elephant Gallery beckon as well; and for those who don't mind
hopping in the car, Camden Yards, home of Major League
Baseball's Orioles, is just down the road in Baltimore.
Damian and Taylor look forward to offering
you "Hospitality in our Maryland family tradition"
at Hill House Bed and Breakfast. |
