The Georgian House Bed and Breakfast, circa 1747-60, is a
five-bay Georgian-style house that is one of the oldest
structures in Annapolis, Maryland's Historic District. It was
frequented by signers of the Declaration of Independence and
has lived through many uses during its history, including
serving as a meeting place for the elite Tuesday and Forensic
Clubs of the late 1700's. Today this historic property is a
warm and gracious bed and breakfast inn where there is always
a chance that a Midshipman (especially their son Tim) will be
raiding the cookie jar (a not infrequent happening!) or
playing battleship in the parlor.
The first floor allows a step back in time with two parlors
that feature original detailing combined with fine oil
paintings, fireplaces, and period furnishings. On the second
floor is a common room with a large library of books and
videotapes. A small refrigerator and microwave are available
for guest use.
Enjoy a gourmet breakfast that includes fresh seasonal
fruit, a signature hot entree, and homemade muffins or rolls.
A selection of national and local newspapers is available for
the early risers.
Sailing and boating are recreational activities offered
close to the inn. Located in the historic district, the
Georgian House is within walking distance of numerous
restaurants, shops, historic buildings, and churches. The
United States Naval Academy is only four blocks away, and St.
John's College is also nearby for a quick tour. Walk the halls
of the Capitol, where George Washington resigned his
commission, or enjoy the fabulous waterfront. The Georgian
House offers you a memorable visit to Annapolis, one of the
East Coast's most historic cities. |
Accommodations include four uniquely furnished guest rooms
on the second and third floors. Each room has a queen-sized
bed, modern private bath and cable television with VCR. The
inn has full wireless Internet access.
The Thomas Stone Room is a bright and spacious
two-room suite with a rice carved plantation bed, a claw-foot
tub with shower, and large sitting room with a gas-log
fireplace, lounge chairs and a queen-size convertible
sofa-bed.
The Samuel Chase Room is cozy and romantic, with a
sleigh bed and private deck that overlooks the side patio.
The bright William Paca Room is a warm yet bright
room that combines old-world colors and tapestries. A
comfortable chair with reading light offers a great place for
reading before retiring into the luxurious antique bed.
The Charles Wilson Peale Room on the third floor
features exposed beams and sloping ceiling, an antique wrought
iron bed, and small sitting area with a love seat. |
