Nestled away on a private, 33-acre
preserve in Petersham, Massachusetts, The Inn at Clamber Hill
beckons discriminating bed and breakfast enthusiasts with the
perfect opportunity to leave their cares behind.
Located in the forests of central
Massachusetts and just minutes from the picturesque Quabbin
Reservoir, this 1920's European-style estate offers quiet
lodging accommodations in a secluded atmosphere.
Choose between two suites, each with
private sitting room, fireplace, and private bath, or one of
the three spacious double rooms with queen-sized beds and
private baths. Whichever you choose, you will find that your
accommodations have been individually and tastefully
decorated, with each room having its own distinctive charm.
Relax with a good book by the fireplace in the stately library
amidst antiques, Oriental carpets, and original artwork or
curl up in cozy comfort in the overstuffed sofas of the
sitting room. A sun-filled Wintergarden as well as the
Wisteria Terrace and Sunset Flagstone Patio are also welcome
places to relax.
Each morning, enjoy a two-course gourmet
breakfast made fresh daily in the kitchen. Owner Mark Ellis
loves to delight guests with homemade specialties for
breakfast such as cream cinnamon rolls and Belgian waffles
topped with fresh strawberries and chantilly cream. The menu
changes daily and requests are welcome. The inn is fully
licensed for wine, cocktails, and beer. High tea is available
by advance arrangement. The Inn also has a restaurant open
from 5:00 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday to Wednesday and by advance
arrangement.
For guests seeking an active itinerary, the
inn is conveniently located near fresh-water swimming, bird
watching, golf, hiking, bicycling, and in winter,
cross-country skiing and snow shoeing. For downhill skiers,
Mount Wachusett is less than 30 minutes away. For golfers, a
rare gem of golf architecture awaits you at the Petersham
Country Club -- a Donald Ross nine-hole course. Let your hosts
know in advance and they'll book you a tee-off time.
Whether you desire a peaceful break nearby
or prefer a dynamic vacation in which to explore Petersham and
the surrounding sights, you will always return to beauty,
charm, and comfort at The Inn at Clamber Hill. |
Not to be missed is Harvard University's
forestry research center and Fisher Museum at the 4,000-acre
Harvard Forest, less than three miles from the Inn. You may
choose to stay close by to enjoy the change of seasons on the
inn's 33 wooded acres as you explore the perennial gardens and
woodland trails, or you can tour picturesque Petersham with
its classic town common, country store, and white clapboard
churches. Antique and bargain hunters can make a full day of
shopping the many and diverse antique shops throughout central
Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire. Gardner, New
England's furniture outlet capital, is only minutes away for
new furnishings.
The secluded surroundings of The Inn at Clamber Hill are
also ideal for corporate getaways, strategic planning, and
confidential meetings. |
