The only lodging establishment in the Providence area to
receive the prestigious AAA Four Diamond Award and noted
as "a destination in itself" by The Atlanta
Journal-Constitution, the Historic Jacob Hill Inn is a
bed and breakfast set on a New England country estate in
Massachusetts just ten minutes from downtown Providence,
Rhode Island. |

Built in 1722, the Inn has a long history of hosting
some of America's most prominent people, including the
Vanderbilts. During the 20 years that the Inn was the
Jacob Hill Hunt Club (1924 to 1944), the member list
resembled a copy of "Who's Who in America."
Although the inn has a historic flavor, the Historic
Jacob Hill Inn also features modern amenities such as
private baths with whirlpool tubs, king- and queen-size
beds, televisions, phones, hair dryers, clock radios, and
air conditioning. Each of the five suites is individually
decorated with period wall coverings or unique
faux-painted walls, antiques, and oil paintings, and all
have some type of fireplace for added romance. The Inn
also provides multi-bedroom suites. One room, the Newport
Suite (pictured on details page), was voted "Room
of the Year" by North America Inns Magazine.
Breakfast is a feast, and your hosts take pride in
serving a different cooked entree every morning. A few
guest favorites include stuffed French toast, blueberry
pancakes, and omelets, served with Bill's crisp bacon or
maple sausages and excellent coffee. Although today's
guests arrive in cars rather than carriages, they are
still entertained in the same old-fashioned way. Swimming
in the lovely in-ground pool is a treat, and tennis is
available on the premises. There are also many local
antique shops, including world-renowned Leonard's.
Historic Jacob Hill Inn is open year round. The beauty
of the surroundings never fades, it just changes from one
season to the next. |
