The Simmons Homestead is the only Bed and
Breakfast Inn in Hyannis Port and it truly reflects the spirit
of old Cape Cod.
The entire house has been designed to
provide a warm, friendly, relaxing, and romantic atmosphere.
It is a place to meet new friends, to feel at home, and relax.
A pleasant haven to retire to after a day of exploring. The
Inn is situated where you can wander the Cape, enjoy the
beach, or take a day trip to Nantucket.
The Inn was the homestead of the Simmons
family, built in 1820 by Lemuel Simmons, a "kinda famous"
sea captain. The house was a private estate until 1987 when it
was restored and converted into a country Inn.
The original wide pine floors have been
refinished, as has all the original woodwork and such. Minor
interior changes have been made so that all twelve bedrooms
have their own private bath. Two of the bedrooms have working
fireplaces, one has a private deck, and one is a two-bedroom
suite. All are unique and beautifully furnished, some with
canopy and brass beds and all with plants, animals, and love.
If you like plants and animals, of the brass and ceramic
variety, you will be right at home. Eclectic and fun in decor,
all rooms have wonderful animal themes. In fact, many repeat
guests always call to reserve the cat, zebra, elephant, or
other room by name, not number.
In the mornings, a full breakfast is served
where you'll find everything fresh and filling. Bill, your
Innkeeper (of sorts), is an okay cook, but now that he has
help with the cooking, the food is getting pretty darn good!
The Simmons Homestead Inn hosts a social
hour where you can meet the other guests and simply sit back
and enjoy a glass of wine. Sit around the huge porches in the
summer and around the roaring fire in the common room in the
cooler months. It's a time you can view menus from the Inn's
list of recommended restaurants and find special information
on things to do the next day. There is a large billiard room
for guests' use. During the cooler months, Bill hosts a
single-malt scotch "Tasting Hour" |

Season Specials:
"Since the off season, November through April,
is a really great time to come to the Cape, we have put
together all sorts of packages to lure you on out here. The
weather is mild for New England, and most everything around
here is open year-round. We have rooms with fireplaces -- warm
and cozy atmosphere."
"Your entire experience on Cape
Cod is very important to us. We not only want you to enjoy the
Inn, but every single moment you are here. We will help you to
do and see the right places. We want you to love this area the
way we do. We want you to keep coming back like so many others
guests. We can also give you a lot of good ideas for traveling
around Boston and other parts of New England. Please let me
know where else you are going, and I'll send you many tidbits
on those areas as well. Your whole time in New England is
important to us. But the best of all is right here." .....Bill

Cape Cod has some of the most beautiful
beaches and scenery in the East. The National Seashore is
simply gorgeous. A drive along Old King's Highway will provide
enough antique shops, galleries, craft studios, and shops to
keep you going for days. The Inn is two minutes from the
harbor and island ferries. It is only an hour to Provincetown
at the tip of the Cape, where you can find bizarre quaintness
and whale watching. There are museums galore and the Cape's
best restaurants are within five minutes of the Inn.
The Simmons Homestead has been written up
in numerous guidebooks and magazines. It is as nice as it
sounds. Lots of celebrities and folks just like you have made
the Simmons Homestead their home while on the Cape. You'll
become a part of the Inn. That's what it's all about.
"I do hope you come and visit with us,
we will make your stay as pleasant a time as you can imagine.
The old farmhouse is lovely and we will make you feel very
much at home, for after all, it is your home while you are
here. We have a bunch of ten-speed mountain bikes (and car
bike racks) for you to use here or take to the Islands, we
have beach chairs and towels and a couple of hammocks in the
backyard. Come and just enjoy everything. There is even a TV
in one of the sitting areas, but there are better things to
do. If you need a book, there is the Lemuel B. Simmons
Memorial Free Library upstairs." |
