On the edge of the small village of West
Barnstable on Massachusetts's Cape Cod, the Honeysuckle Hill
Bed and Breakfast has been welcoming guests for generations.
Listed on the National Historic Register,
circa 1810, this enchanting New England seaside cottage offers
comfortably elegant lodging accommodations and graciously
served breakfasts. Built in the Queen Anne style by the
Goodspeed and Fish families, the Inn is surrounded by lush,
green lawns and colorful gardens.
All the rooms at the Honeysuckle Hill are
delightfully furnished with antiques, white wicker, and
featherbeds. Each room is air conditioned and has a private
bath with an oversized marble shower as well as fresh flowers,
English toiletries and terry robes. Crisply ironed sheets and
pillowcases are an added feature to make your stay more
pleasant and special. One accommodation is a charming suite
with two sleeping rooms, each with a double bed. Another room
has its own private entrance and stairway. In room amenities
include A/C, coffee machines, cable TV/DVD, wireless Internet
access, clock radio, hair dryers, and an iron/ironing board.
The guest parlor, with its wood-burning
fireplace and built-in bookshelves, is comfortably furnished
with antiques and family pieces. Another favorite gathering
spot for guests at Honeysuckle Hill is the wicker-filled
screened porch. The guest refrigerator is located here along
with towels, sand chairs and shade umbrellas for a day at the
beach.
At Honeysuckle Hill, a full breakfast is
included in the room rates and is served in the sunny dining
room. The menu changes daily and offers such gourmet treats as
Eggs Benedict, Cape Kedgeree or fruit crepes. Fruits in
season, a choice of juice, and freshly baked muffins, breads
or coffee cake accompany the entree. Homemade granola, a
specialty of the Inn, is always available. Early coffee, along
with the morning newspapers, is served on the front porch.
Less then two miles from the Inn, is Sandy
Neck, a classic barrier beach that stretches for six miles
along Cape Cod Bay. The Neck's adjoining conservation area is
a scenic spot to hike, canoe, fish, and birdwatch. West
Barnstable offers antiques for the lover of the old and
unusual, arts and crafts, museums and historic sites,
concerts, and ferry trips to the islands of Nantucket and
Martha's Vineyard. Whale watching is also available when the
whales are migrating. |
Honeysuckle Hill Inn has been voted "Best
Bed and Breakfast Mid-Cape" by the Cape Cod Life
Readers' Poll.
The Inn was also selected as one of the Top 15 B&B/Country
Inns by the readers of the 2003 Arrington's Bed and
Breakfast Journal in the category of "Best Customer
Service."
Like no other village on Cape Cod, West
Barnstable is defined by its history and geography, both of
which are evident as you approach the village from the west.
Route 6A, designated one of the ten outstanding scenic
byways in America, gracefully winds its way along the northern
edge of the Cape. Stately elms and maples line the route,
forming in spring and summer a lush canopy over this former
stagecoach path. In the fall, the canopy changes to a blaze of
harvest colors.
All in all, the Honeysuckle Hill B&B
and the surrounding village of West Barnstable retain the
genteel country charm of yesteryear. Bill and Mary invite you
to honor the past and experience country elegance at its best
at Honeysuckle Hill, a very special place by the sea. |
