Breazeale House, built for Congressman
Phanor Breazeale in the late 1800's, is a labor of love for
innkeepers Jack and Willa Freeman. The house is within walking
distance to the Historic Downtown District of Natchitoches and
beautiful Cane River Lake. In the early 1900's, President Taft
stayed as an overnight guest. According to Jack and Willa,
there seems to be unknown occupants in the house along with
the Freemans. Frequent guests have experienced some
unexplainable activities!
This beautiful Victorian home features
several historic touches, such as eleven fireplaces,
twelve-foot ceilings, nine stained glass windows above the
entry hall staircase, and a set of servants' stairs leading to
the kitchen area. Three unique balconies offer beautiful views
of scenic Natchitoches. You will delight in three floors of
over 6,000 square feet of living area for reading, relaxing,
or getting to know your fellow guests. Retire at night to one
of five delightful guest rooms, each with private bath and
queen-sized bed.
A full breakfast begins your morning at
Breazeale House, with well-blended coffee and a delicious
morning entree. After a satisfying meal you will want to set
out to experience the activities of Natchitoches, including
those lazy afternoons milling through this historic town.
Recreation is just outside the inn with a refreshing dip in
the swimming pool, or you may prefer to just lie in the sun
while finishing that half-read novel.
The Historic Downtown District is dotted
with unique eateries and specialty shops. River and town tours
will provide some background on Nachitoches history. |
If you are staying at the Breazeale House
in the summer, you will definitely want to tour the Melrose
Arts and Crafts Fair in June for homespun treasures and
keepsakes. October's Tour of Homes gives you an inside look at
the beautiful historic buildings which give Nachitoches its
charm and beauty. The year comes to a close with the Christmas
Festival, promising to put you in the spirit of the holiday
season.
There is always something fun for everyone
in Natchitoches, beginning with your stay at Breazeale House
Bed and Breakfast. |
