A Blue Grass Bed and
Breakfast Experience....
Located on Scenic Byway 68 in Harrodsburg, Kentucky's
oldest settlement, The Baxter House was built around a three
room log cabin by James D. Baxter in 1913 to become an
American foursquare structure that was popular in the early
twentieth century. Set in the heart of Bluegrass country, the
estate is a peaceful, Southern farm where Mallard ducks swim
in the duck pond, fuzzy donkeys roam the surrounding pasture
and exotic chickens, rabbits and Pygmy goats graze and play.
Folks young and old enjoy waving at passersby from the wooden
swing on the fifty foot long, covered front porch.
Come experience
life in the country on this rural estate with the smell of
apple cider brewing on the outdoor wood stove, homemade
biscuits in the oven and spectacular sunsets. A perfect
setting for that special event, Baxter House Bed and Breakfast
overlooks hundreds of acres of beautiful Bluegrass farmland.
This charming home features original light fixtures and
eight unique fireplaces with hand glazed brick tiles. The
original cabin's hand hewn logs, now encompassed by the
present structure, are still visible from the basement. An
elegant stairway graces the front hall and beautiful antiques
fill the house.
Choose from four uniquely decorated guest rooms each with a
mood and flavor all its own. Each accommodation provides a
sitting area and a private bath while two guest rooms have the
added comfort of a 2-person whirlpool tub. All guest rooms
offer stocked refrigerator, microwave with popcorn and hot
chocolate, coffee maker and CD player with CD's. The Frontier
and Derby rooms have TV and VCR with video library.
A sumptuous, homecooked breakfast enhances your country
experience with exclusive recipes from the hosts, such as
strawberries in double cream, the ultimate breakfast casserole
and homemade buttermilk biscuits.
Nearby attractions include Old Fort Harrod State Park,
Perryville Civil War Battlefield, and the famous Shaker
Village. Tour area horse farms or the the Dixie Belle
riverboat, try your luck at the Keeneland Race Track, go
boating on Herrington Lake and visit historic downtown
Harrodsburg with plenty of fine restaurants and antique shops.
Whether you want to sink into country tranquility, explore
American history, or discover the Bluegrass Country way of
life, Baxter House is your destination for memories that will
last a lifetime. |
