in these parts say that the Scenic Wonderland Region of
Kentucky is all about Caves, Lakes and Corvette. After all
it is the hoe of the National Corvette Museum ... it does
have lots of caves ... and if you want to take a splash it
does have lots of lakes for your vacation adventures from
fishing, to boating and shore refreshing swimming. This
region sits atop a number of caves and caverns as well as
the world's longest explored cave system at Mammoth Cave
National Park. The Green and Nolin Rivers also reside here.
Dont forget to check out the Corvette Museum in
Bowling Green and marvel at America's original sports car.
Green River Lake State Park is a recreational paradise in
south central Kentucky's cave country. This 8,200-acre,
picture-perfect lake provides excellent opportunities for
almost any water sport. Historic sites can be found along
the by ways. The 1823 Jacob Hiestand House on KY-210 is one
of only 12 German stone houses in the state. It features
exquisite hand-tooled masonry and period furnishings. The
adjacent 1840 Atkinson-Griffin Log House served as a
Confederate hospital after the Battle of Tebbs Bend, where
Confederate General John Hunt Morgan began his 1863 raid
into Indiana and Ohio. |
