We are delighted to share a few of our favorite recipes. Raising six children has presented culinary challenges over the years. Our kitchen table provided a center of spirited discussions, shared hopes and dreams, and, of course, daily servings of advice, counsel and love.

A holiday breakfast tradition at the Ryan House

Ingredients

2 cups cornmeal

2 cups cold water

6 cups water (lukewarm

2 teaspoons salt

Dusting flour

Oil for frying

Mix cornmeal and cold water; set aside. Bring 6 cups of water to boil, then add salt. Add the cornmeal mixture. Bring back to a boil, stirring constantly. Cover and cook slowly for 10 minutes. Pour into greased loaf pan and chill until set. Makes 1 loaf. Slice thin and dust with flour. Heat oil and fry the slices until crisp. Serve with syrup.
