Beautifully restored, the interior boasts the original
cherry, pear, oak, and bird's eye maple woodwork as well as
brass light fixtures, ornate ceiling medallions, and Bradbury
& Bradbury wallcoverings. Furnished with fine antiques,
Persian rugs, and other elegant appointments, the house offers
several porches from which to view the formal gardens and the
mighty Mississippi.
Choose from five bed chambers, each with attached private
bath, queen-size bed, and cable television with VCR. The Judge's
Chambers and Tower Suite both
incorporate the turret and offer beautiful views. Ranging in
decor from cozy country French to Eastlake to an eclectic mix
of antique and contemporary pieces, each lodging accommodation
is a place to enjoy and remember. There is even a third-floor
ballroom offering a billiards table and sitting area. A
telephone and refrigerator stocked with soft drinks are
available in one of the main-floor parlors.
Awaken to a full gourmet breakfast served every morning in
the dining room. There are several nearby places to eat for
later dining and when you return from dinner, you will find
desserts set up in one of the parlors. |
Six blocks from the Grand Anne is beautiful Rand Park, with
its gardens, lake, fountain, and green hills. The park
features one of the most scenic overlooks of the Mississippi
and sets the scene for several activities, including the April
Civil War Reenactment and the December City of Christmas
display. Explore the historic homes on Grand Avenue, shop for
antiques, or visit nearby Nauvoo, Illinois -- the largest
historic preservation site in the Midwest, recreating life in
the mid-19th century. Fishing, boating, bicycling, and golf
are available nearby.
Host Cretia Hesse invites you to treat yourself to the quiet
