| Iowa, known as
the Hawkeye State, became the 29th State in 1846. Bordered
by two great American rivers (the Mississippi and the
Missouri) on its east and west sides, it has a rich
agricultural tradition and ranks first in the nation with
corn and soybean production as well as in hog production
from over 90,000 farms. Famous individuals such as Herbert
Hoover, John Wayne, Glenn Miller and Grant Wood, made Iowa
their home. It was part of the Lewis and Clark expedition
and many other historic events. Iowa's state capital is Des
Moines. This large city offers shopping, restaurants and
attractions such as the State Historical Museum. The states
wide open spaces and farmland attracts visitors from all
over the world - this is a place to drive through meadows
and see forever, feel the vastness of land and experience a
bed
and breakfast with farm fresh breakfast and congenial
innkeepers. |
