Puna is located on the
windward side and the eastern tip of the Big Island, just north of
Hilo. Half of Puna is residential, but the rest of it is park and
attractions. The area west of Puna has the end of the chain of
craters, and Hawaii Volcanos National Park. The area is mainly
covered with lava flow, which is the region's main attraction.

camping, snorkeling, scuba, mountain biking, surfing, hiking, wind
surfing, and horseback riding.

Anthurium Orchid Farms, Kumukahi Lighthouse, Kukii Heiau (sacred
site), Papaya Orchards, Mahinaakaaka Heiau, Kalani Honua Cultural
Center, Star of the Sea Painted Church, Niukukahi Heiau, Wahaula
Heiau, Petroglyphs, and Old Hawaiian Canoe Shed.
