Hawaii. The rainfall in Kona is 30" per year, Hilo: 120"
and The Volcano: 200" per year. Most of the sun and great
beaches are in Kona.
- Directions: From the Kona International Airport:
After leaving the airport, turn right on Highway 19, which will turn
into Highway 11 at Palani Road. Continue on about 2 more miles past
the town of Kailua-Kona, and watch for a green sign that says "Holualoa
3 Miles". Turn left on Hualalai Road and go up the hill. (There
is no stoplight, only a left turn lane). About 1.5 miles up this
windy road, you will see 10 mile an hour signs to slow down for the
very sharp turn and 4 blue reflectors, with our driveway in the
middle of the sharp right curve and a sign and lamp post above the
mailbox saying, "Hale Maluhia". Turn right into the
driveway and go all the way to the top, where you will see a brass
bell at the front door of the main house. Please ring the bell
loudly and we will come down and check you in. Note: if you reach
the traffic light at Lako Street on Highway 11, you have gone one
mile too far. Turn around and look for the "Holualoa 3"
miles sign, and turn up the hill.
From Hilo: Proceed south toward Kona on Highway
11, passing through 4 stoplights: Kamehameha III, Sea View, and Lako
Street. Look for the Holualoa 3 miles sign, and turn right up the
hill. Proceed as above.
