Dahlonega is rich in the
culture and charm of Appalachia within its beautifully preserved
downtown historic district. The Georgia gateway to the
Appalachians is the site of the first U. S. gold rush and gets its
name for the Cherokee word for "golden color" or "yellow
money". Visit the Gold Museum and the historic Town Square,
where you will find many art, antique, and craft stores.
Experience the beauty of the vineyards and taste the quality of
Georgia wines as you travel along the Georgia Wine Highway.
