Blue Ridge, named for the
southern reach of the Appalachian Mountain Range that stretches
into Fannin County in north Georgia is known as "The Gateway
to the Mountains." A number of events are held in Blue Ridge,
including the Arts in the Park Festival, a Labor Day Barbecue and
a Mountain Harvest Sale at the Blue Ridge State Farmer's Market.
Lake Blue Ridge, Nottely
Lake, and the Ocoee River place you in a prime location for
fishing, thrilling whitewater rafting, and other types of boating.
In spring, the mountain is covered with dogwood blossoms, wild
azaleas, and mountain laurel. Days are sunny and warm, nights
cool. Blue birds, hummingbirds, and butterflies are frequent
visitors. |
