The theme is romance at The Bayfront
Westcott House Bed and Breakfast, which overlooks beautiful
Matanzas Bay and the Bridge of Lions in the heart of St.
Augustine's historic district.
Historic sights, museums, art galleries,
fine restaurants, quaint shops, and white sandy beaches are
all within walking distance, and the city's marina is just a
half block away.
The Westcott House is a classic Victorian
home built in the late 1800's for Dr. John Westcott. He helped
establish the regional St. Johns Railroad and played an
integral role in the development of the Intracoastal Waterway,
which links the St. Johns River to Miami. Today, the
horse-drawn carriages that clip-clop along the waterfront
offer a colorful reminder of yesteryear -- a time when
Westcott and company shaped a city generally recognized as
America's oldest.
The Bayfront Westcott House Bed and
Breakfast accommodates guests with fifteen rooms, each with a
private bath. All accommodations are exquisitely decorated and
furnished with American and European antiques and come with
either a king- or queen-sized bed. Additional amenities in
some rooms include Jacuzzi, fireplace, a picturesque view of
the bay, and private balconies. Creature comforts include
private telephones, cable television, wireless Internet,
year-round climate control, and complimentary terry cloth
robes.
The Westcott House is proud to present six
newly constructed/ renovated elegant rooms with private porch
areas, bay views, and double Jacuzzis. The Inn is now
handicapped accessible.
Come morning, you have the option of
enjoying breakfast in the dining room, in the courtyard, or on
Westcott's Victorian porch. Breakfast in bed with mimosas is
available as an option. The inn's early-morning fare includes
an entree, pastries, croissants, bagels, cereal, and fresh
fruit served with coffee and juice. Complimentary wine, beer,
dessert, and brandy are served in the evening. Westcott's
hosts, the Graubard family, are always are happy to meet
special requests, such as those for roses or perhaps a bottle
of Champagne. If you ask, the Graubards will even arrange for
dinner reservations.
St. Augustine offers horse-drawn carriage
tours, sight-seeing trains and trolleys. Cruise and sailing
ships let you see the beauty of St. Augustine from a somewhat
different perspective, and self-guided walking tours allow you
to explore the city at your leisure. You may also take
advantage of the complimentary bicycles at the Inn. |
Some of the city's most impressive sights
belong to its beautiful cathedrals and the architectural
legacies of renowned entrepreneur Henry Flagler. Other relics
of yesteryear are showcased in the exhibit halls of the Oldest
Store Museum, Potter's Wax Museum, Ponce De Leon Fountain of
Youth, and the Museum of Weapons and Early American History.
The St. Augustine area offers multiple
venues for golf and tennis, sailing, kayaking or a deep-sea
fishing cruise. If you're into bird-watching, consider St.
Augustine your paradise. With 43 miles of ocean beach, two
ocean inlets, three state parks, the majestic St. Johns River,
and an Intracoastal Waterway flanked by vast salt marshes, the
area offers a natural habitat for at least 260 varieties of
shore birds, parrots, wading birds, raptors, and neotropical
migrants. |
