Hutchinson Island is
located along the central Atlantic coast of Florida, north of Palm
Beach.
This is a long, thin
barrier island that stretches north from Fort Pierce south to
Stuart. The small town of Jensen Beach, which occupies the core of
the island, stretches across both sides of the Indian River. There
are miles of beautiful, sandy beach to enjoy in this down-to-earth
town.
Activities on Hutchinson
Island include swimming, beachcombing, surfing, jet skiing,
boating, snorkeling and more. Several golf courses in the area
offer exciting golf. One of the most popular spots on Hutchinson
Island is the Bathtub Reef Park. Children can splash and swim in
this shallow, natural pool that is sheltered from the ocean by a
protective reef.
In late April to early
August, more than 600 turtles come to nest along the island's
Atlantic side beach.
