After you've enjoyed your full country breakfast, you may want explore the area. You might even stumble upon the lone mourning dove for which the bed and breakfast is named. The woods are filled with nature trails groomed for those who like to hike, and if you want to see things from high in the saddle, there are riding stables just down the road.

Local attractions include a winery, movie theater, and the Foxwoods Casino and Mohegan Sun Casino. In downtown Lisbon, you'll find a nice assemblage of restaurants, art galleries, and gift shops. The USS Nautilus Museum and U.S. Coast Guard Academy are just a short drive away, as are some well-groomed golf facilities and the ever-popular Mystic Seaport and Aquarium.
