| Fairfield
County is the gateway to New England. It is a genteel
suburban enclave bordering on New York. Here reside the
manicured mansions of Greenwich and the corporate
headquarters of Stamford. Coastal Fairfield has a string of
seaside marinas and restaurants tucked in between town
beaches. The villages have many small boutiques where one
can enjoy a day of productive shopping. This is also a
cultural destination with fine art museums as well as
exhibits featuring the showman P.T. Barnum in his hometown
of Bridgeport. In addition, the family will enjoy a visit to
the Maritime Aquarium or nature centers in Stamford or
Greenwich.
Bed and
Breakfast Inns, places to eat, curious shops and New
England villages provide a special getaway.
Golf
courses and country clubs offer great greens and views
from your tee. Places to see include the Audubon Center of
Greenwich a 285-acre nature sanctuary that has 7 miles of
walking trails, and nature exhibit displays. In Fairfield is
the Audubon Society Nature Center. The Stamford Museum and
Nature Center with over 118 acres of museums, a planetarium,
lake, working farm, wildlife center and nature trails.
