Lisbon is the land between
two rivers, according to Indian lore. It is bounded by the
Shetucket and Quinebaug Rivers. Running through the center of
Lisbon is Route 169, a scenic road which is in the National
Heritage Corridor.
Because of its hilly and
rocky terrain, Lisbon was the first town in the county a railroad
tunnel had to be built. Today the town retains its old-world
character.
Nearby attractions include
Mystic Seaport, the Mohegan Sun Casino and the Foxwoods Casino,
the Naval Submarine Base and Nautilus Museum, golfing, the U.S.
Coast Guard Academy, restaurants, and shopping. Be sure and visit
the area's many antiquing opportunities. |
