Sundance Bear Lodge, offering a variety of lodging options
in the Four Corners Region, is surrounded by 80-plus acres of
pastures, pinyon and juniper forest, and canyon. Guests are
welcome to explore on foot or on their horse. Located four
miles north of Mancos, Colorado, the lodge boasts a night sky
that is beyond belief.
Relax in western casual luxury in bed and breakfast rooms,
or a cabin or guest house (with full kitchen). The Main
Lodge has two rooms -- a queen in one (Mancos room),
and an oversized queen plus single in the other (Mesa Verde
Queen) -- each with private bath. The Great Room provides
wonderful space perfect for reading, TV, cards, board games,
and conversation. If guests can't escape the work-a-day world,
fax, computers, copy machine, and Internet access are
available.
The Log Cabin, across the pond from the Main
Lodge offers a spectacular view of the sunsets. The cabin is a
romantic, round log structure with a queen bedroom downstairs
and a double bed plus sofa in the loft. It has one bath and
three decks. Additional amenities include a gas log fireplace,
charcoal grill, and refrigerator, electric stove and oven,
microwave, coffeemaker, and toaster. The cabin can be rented
self-catering style (you do your own meals) or Bed and
Breakfast style (full breakfast provided).
For larger families or groups of friends, the Guest
House presents an ideal alternative. This
three-bedroom house has 2-1/2 baths and sleeps eight to ten
people. With two driveway entrances, the house can be rented
complete or as two separate units. The great room/kitchen
common area separates the two units. Unit 1 has a king and day
bed plus private bath. Unit 2 has two rooms, one with a king
bed and the other with two queens, with a bath in between.
There are two decks as well. The Guest House is self-catering
only.
For extra fun, how about a night in a Sioux tepee?
For Bed and Breakfast guests, your hosts will do their best
to customize the full breakfast to suit your travel needs and
dietary restrictions. Breakfast is served anytime after 7:30
a.m., enhancing the feeling of freedom this part of the
country exudes.
Visit Sundance Bear Lodge in the Four Corners region, the
only place in the United States where you can be in four
states at once. |
Southwestern Colorado offers a smorgasbord of things to do
and see. The lodge is central between Durango's famous train
ride and Mesa Verde National Park, two items on your must-do
list. For those interested in the abundant Native American
culture, Hovenweep is a local Utah and Colorado Anasazi site
that is well worth visiting, as are The Anasazi Heritage
Center and the Indian Dancing summer nights in Cortez. Skiers
won't want to miss Purgatory Ski Resort when the snow falls.
Hiking, biking, fishing, golf, and relaxing are also
available. The Lodge has a corral for guests horses should
they decide to bring some along.
Return to the Sundance Bear Lodge after an active day. The
hot tub on the Main Lodge porch is always there for your
relaxation. There is a sauna inside as well. The hammock for
one (two if you're careful) is another lazy option. The
porches offer great views of the La Plata Mountains, Mesa
Verde, and the Sleeping Ute as well as the evening sky -- the
"theater of the sunset," which is always free!
