Craig Ranch Bed and Breakfast and Horse Motel is a
15,000 acre cattle ranch, just 3 miles, 10 minutes, from
the hustle and bustle of Interstate 70 near Limon,
Colorado. Here you will find a peaceful retreat and
country pleasures.
From antique beds to delicious country food, Craig Ranch
provides comfortable accommodations and the simplicity of
country ranch life at reasonable rates. The passive solar
home incorporates many windows and glorious, expansive
views of the surrounding prairie. With the 350+ days of
Colorado sunshine, the solar design keeps the home cozy in
the winter yet still allows terrific prairie viewing.
Five guest accommodations provide private or shared bath
combinations, perfect for families and friends. The main
floor Prairie Room has an antique queen size bed,
ceiling fan, and floor to ceiling windows overlooking the
Colorado ranch yard, garden and horse pasture. There is a
private bath across the hall with vintage claw foot tub
and modern walk-in shower. Circle downstairs and choose
from Miss Molly's room with queen antique brass
bed, Bill's Bunkhouse with a full bed, a family
heirloom that originally came west by covered wagon, Joker
Jake's with antique burled wood queen bed, or Miss
Maggie's with antique oak twin beds. For your escape
from some of the modern electronic frenzy and overload,
the rooms do not have phones or televisions.
Curl up in the family room with a bowl of popcorn and a
good movie (TV/VCR). Enter into a rousing ping-pong match,
try your hand at billiards, enjoy a light workout, or have
an old fashioned sing-a-long around the piano.
Ranch chores dictate the pace of life and breakfast
times may vary, but the food is always plentiful and
delicious. Start your day with a hearty, country
breakfast. Savor light fluffy Pancakes with Fried Apples,
Eggs, Bacon, Juice, Coffee and Tea. Or satisfy your
appetite with homemade Muffins, Jams, Jellies, and
Granola. Entrees vary and tomorrow might bring aromas of
Sausage with Biscuits and Country Gravy, French Toast and
Ham, or Oatmeal and a Fresh Fruit Plate.
Limon was an Eastern Colorado work camp in 1888 when the
railroad was being built from Kansas to Colorado Springs.
Located 80 miles from Denver and 70 miles from Colorado
Springs, Limon, Colorado, it serves as a gateway to the
two cities and the Pikes Peak region. As the intersection
site of many major roads and Interstate 70, it became
known as the Hub City of Eastern Colorado. The Lincoln
County area is a center of cattle and sheep raising. |

Bring your own horse, stable it
overnight, and ride the range.
It's the perfect weekend getaway for city dwellers, a
peaceful alternative for travelers, and a great option for
folks traveling with horses.
You can stable your horse in one of the safe pipe corrals.
In addition, there is a 12x17 stall off one of the corrals. An
indoor arena is available for bad weather conditions and big
rig access is an additional convenience.
Craig Ranch has been in the Craig family for more than 50
years and is currently operated by John and Beth Craig. Their
four grown children tested the facilities and verify that the
lodging is indeed child friendly! Children with energetic,
attentive, responsible parents are welcome.
Play tetherball, explore the extensive garden, laze in the
hammock and enjoy the wide open prairie.
Explore the ranch and perhaps you'll see the deer, antelope,
turkey, coyotes, raccoons, and the variety of birds. Take a
short hike in the 5 mile stretch of Big Sandy Creek river
bottom and enjoy the abundant wildlife. |
