"The Romance of the Past with the
Comforts of Today." Imagine two storybook Victorian homes
and a carriage house filled with antiques and family
heirlooms. In 1902, Mrs. Isabel Holden, the widow of former
rancher and prosperous businessman Daniel M. Holden, built
this Colonial Revival Victorian and carriage house. The former
Miss. Isabel Hayden came to Colorado from Iowa in 1864, where
she met and married Daniel Holden. The Holdens had six
children and although Daniel Holden died in 1896 of cholera,
Isabel was 85 years old at her death in 1931. The Holdens
owned considerable mining interests in the Colorado towns of
Aspen, Cripple Creek, Silverton, Goldfield, and Independence,
for which the five guest suites are named. The memories of
Isabel and her family live on today at Holden House. Centrally
located in a residential area near Old Colorado City, the Inn
is convenient to all of the Pikes Peak area.
Immaculate and individually appointed guest
suites boast private baths, feather pillows, antiques, air
conditioning (in summer), queen beds, refrigerators,
telephones/modems, CD players/clock radios, hairdryers, and
modern amenities such as TV/DVD player, wireless Internet and
a business center. The Inn also features romance with "tubs
of two", mountain views, fireplaces, and more! The
Carriage House is available as a weekly vacation rental in the
off-season. Two friendly resident Inn cats will greet you. If
you're seeking rest and solitude, the Independence suite in the
adjacent Victorian house is for you! The secret garden with a
gazebo and fountains is a quiet place to retreat in the summer.
Awake to the aroma of homemade muffins hot
from the oven, freshly ground coffee or specialty teas, fresh
fruit, juice and a variety of delectable entrees such as
Sallie's famous Southwestern Eggs Fiesta, German Puff
Pancakes, or Ruffled Crepes Isabel. While enjoying a full
gourmet breakfast, experience traditional hospitality and good
conversation. Breakfast is served at your choice of 8:00 or
9:00 a.m. in the elegant formal dining room. Arrangements can
be made for an early riser's breakfast should the need arise.
Breakfast en suite is available for an additional charge.
Daily maid service, private-label amenities, complimentary
coffee and tea, freshly baked cookies, and turn-down service
are just a few of Holden House's special touches. You won't
want to miss the afternoon wine social offered each day.
